Sea Change
for baritone saxophone, electric guitar, percussion, and piano
Length: 10 minutes
Composed: 2019
Premiere by: Hinge on October 23, 2021 at the Music Mansion, Providence, RI
Program Note: Sea Change depicts how violent and unforeseen changes can develop gradually and almost imperceptibly if we're not paying close attention. The piece begins in a place of calm contemplation; slight rhythmic intrusions being to appear and slowly but surely overpower the calm, sustained harmonies of the opening, and by the end transform the piece into unrelenting gritty, rhythmic noise.
